(9) On The Map was well supported last start but didn’t get the easiest of runs from a wide position, she is drawn better here today and looks a key speed influence, has the scope to improve. (1) Indiamo hit the line strongest of any of the runners in this field last start and looks well suited rising to the 1600m off that run, just needs a fair track to give him a chance. (6) Flaming Eyes has placed in her last two starts and is rock hard fit, she should be strong late but dropping back in distance is the query. (4) Tear Apart has been down the track on winners so far into his 3 career runs but showed improvement in a recent trial and rising in trip suits.

Race 2
(12) Alpine Lee was strong through the line in her debut performance over the 1000m. She ran the 2nd fastest L600m of that race only behind Virtual Illusion who is looking to be a very good form line to follow after he won again Saturday. Alpine Lee looks well suited rising in distance and dropping in grade. (14) Ludina wouldn’t surprise on debut here given the set up she gets. Drawn softly from the inside barrier and with a light weight, she could be prominent and hard to catch. (2) Kikorangi resumes, he finished in the placings in his last 2 starts before a spell but might have work to do from a wide barrier. (5) Glass Bay makes her debut for a new stable, her form in Victoria could stack up at this level but she is another who needs some luck from a wide barrier potentially.

Race 3
Expecting (1) Flaming Navy should have improvement to give 2nd up here. She led up and was overrun here 1st up but looks better suited fitter now and up to the 1600m. She gets a soft race map and will be up on speed and prominent. (3) Reciprocal contested stronger races through his last prep and will be suited dropping down in grade today, while he may be better suited with a few runs under his belt and up over more distance, he could prove too classy. (2) Utah improved 2nd up to win over the 1600m, he was a winner in impressive fashion so won’t need to improve much to win up in grade today. (8) Hayai Mesu is suited dropping down in grade to an easier level, she will also drop in distance but her only career win came over the 1600m.

Suggested Bet: Flaming Navy looks the one to beat but she looks quite short to be betting into.
Race 4
This is a tough staying race to be betting into given that some of these runners have met multiple times and mixed their form of late. Giving (6) Cracken Good Time another chance to win here today. He ran a close 2nd in a similar race last start but will meet some key rivals better at the weights again and maps to get a soft run early. (8) Empress Of Soul was the winner of the last start race Cracken Good Time came out of; expect he will be every chance again in a similar level. (9) Grinzinger Joy is fresher than some of her rivals in this and is a last start winner in a similar race, expecting she will go close again in a similar field. (7) Dexter Dream ran into the placings two starts ago before a flat performance last start, he may be looking for more ground today.

Race 5
(2) Flambard looks well suited rising up to the 1600m and here at Balaklava where he has previously performed well. He went close to the win last start down in this grade so should be ideally suited now back to the 1600m trip. (1) High Tor has impressed in his last few starts having won 2 of his last 3. He was impressive last start at Morphettville when winning by a margin but needs to take a sharp rise in trip. Hard to knock winning form. (6) Alpine Beau didn’t show a great deal when resuming but will be much better suited today and rising in trip, can be an improver. (3) Obi has won 2 from 2 here at Balaklava previously and looks ideally set up over the 1600m trip, this set up suits, and he should be around the mark.

Race 6
(1) Mapleway is lightly raced in comparison to rivals here today and looks the one who may have the most upside to give. Expecting that he will be much better suited dropping back down in grade today and rising to the 1400m. (6) My Crackling ran into the placings over this same track/trip set up two starts back, the inside barrier should have him land in a handy position. (2) Enlist will be better suited here today rising slightly in trip and 3rd up, if he can find a run from the wide barrier early it gives him a good chance. (5) Smokin’ Eyes has improvement to give here today fitter 2nd up now and rising to the 1400m trip.

Race 7
(7) Broadway Lane has been consistent in his last few starts here at Balaklava, he will race on speed and looks likely to find that position quickly, if he can get the soft run early it will help him see out a strong 1200m. The scratching on Duchess Of Sussex gives him a much easier time out on the speed (1) Setteveli is dropping down slightly in grade which will suit and rising to the 1200m will suit but he needs an even playing track. (8) Swissta is 3rd up into the prep and is another who can race up on speed which is expected to suit at this track. (2) Gusmao hit the line strongly last start and looks better suited 2nd up and rising to the 1200m
