Race by race overview
Race 1:
(5) Damelli looks a likely improver here today dropping in grade from the level she has contested recently. After hitting the line strongly last start she looks likely to be suited rising in trip so gets an ideal set up here today.
(4) Oui Oui Ma Cherie is on the quick back up having won last weekend to break her maiden. She was doing her best work late last Wednesday so another rise in trip should suit.
(1) Hazy Daze is a last start winner who looks a likely leader and should be suited at this track if it is playing as expected, with the race shaping to have a moderate tempo.
Selections:
(5) Damelli
(4) Oui Oui Ma Cherie
(1) Hazy Daze
Suggested Bet: Win (5) Damelli
Race 2:
(11) Torrita ran a close second over this same track and distance and has finished runner-up in three of her last four starts. She continues to run well and should go close again, though confidence is slightly lowered due to a tricky barrier.
(6) Moussaka has been in solid form and is capable of winning at this level, but an awkward barrier could make things tough. He comes through a strong form reference and can stack up if he gets the right run.
(9) Sayersitisn’tso should be better suited second-up and rising in distance based on what we saw on debut, with improvement expected.
(2) All Too True maps better than some key rivals and showed improvement last start when rising in distance, making him suited at this track.
Selections:
(11) Torrita
(6) Moussaka
(9) Sayersitisn’tso
(2) All Too True
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Race 3:
(12) She Rex was good on debut for her new stable when running a close third in a Saturday-grade Maiden. This looks a slightly easier level and she has good speed which should suit this track, allowing her to race forward despite the wide draw.
(1) Discreetly Blue was solid when resuming over this track and distance. He should be fitter second-up and the slight drop in grade should set him up well.
(10) Minato resumed off a very long break and was good enough to run into the placings. Fitter second-up now and capable of improvement.
(4) Glouf has impressed at the trials and makes his debut here. Draws well and could measure up first-up.
Selections:
(12) She Rex
(1) Discreetly Blue
(10) Minato
(4) Glouf
Suggested Bet: Win (12) She Rex
Race 4:
There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of speed in this race which could see (2) Bocheeva get the run of the race on speed. He was a winner over this track and distance two starts ago so conditions should suit.
(7) Warrandyte Road has been in strong form of late and gets a slight rise in distance which should suit.
(1) Eaglelou hit the line strongly here at Gawler last start and the quick rise to 2108m looks ideal at this stage of his preparation.
(4) Hamner Springs has placed at his last two starts including a third last start in a similar race over this track and distance.
Selections:
(2) Bocheeva
(7) Warrandyte Road
(1) Eaglelou
(4) Hamner Springs
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Race 5:
(4) Morlaix showed improvement last start when dropping in grade but ran out of time to catch the winner, finishing a close second. She looks better suited stepping back up in distance, though may need luck if settling back in the run.
(5) Night Cruiser maps to find a soft lead and if the track is favouring on speed runners he could prove hard to catch.
(6) The Tank showed improvement last start when dropping in distance. He remains at the same track and distance and could be well set up again.
(3) Think Tank can mix his form but his best is good enough to win at this level, which is slightly easier than some of his recent assignments.
Selections:
(4) Morlaix
(5) Night Cruiser
(6) The Tank
(3) Think Tank
Suggested Bet: Each Way (4) Morlaix
Race 6:
This race shapes as another moderate tempo affair and (2) Raymond’s Reward looks the runner most likely to find the lead. He gets in light after the claim and with a soft map looks the one to catch.
(5) Princess On Palm’s only career win has come over this track and distance. She resumes from a low barrier and should land in a good position.
(8) Tokyo Ice is a last start winner over this track and distance in a similar grade. While she rises in weight, she maps much better from barrier three.
(10) Limbering needs to find improvement but has a good record at Gawler and could be suited if the tempo is even.
Selections:
(2) Raymond’s Reward
(5) Princess On Palm
(8) Tokyo Ice
(10) Limbering
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Race 7:
(3) Wally West kicked off this preparation with a good win before two moderate runs. He drops sharply in grade here and should be better suited to finding winning form again.
(4) Territorian maps for the run of the race from the inside barrier and should improve second-up.
(7) Fashion Dog has been hitting the line strongly and if he can settle closer from the middle draw he should be strong late.
(2) Takeover Lad maps well from the inside barrier and returns to the distance where both of his career wins have come, representing a step down in grade.
Selections:
(3) Wally West
(4) Territorian
(7) Fashion Dog
(2) Takeover Lad
Suggested Bet: No bet.
