Turf Talk
- Track comes up a Good 4 but likely to get an upgrade.
- Terang is a beautifully laid out track with a long home straight.
- It’s a track that has had its share of issues the past few years with some significant patterns emerging, albeit unpredictable.
- Track was reasonably fair at the only meeting this season, although the inside few lanes were probably a penalty.
- Keep a close eye on how early races play out.
Race 3
Not a lot of speed here. Frosty Night likely leads and think The Adige can roll forward for Meech.
Weak Maiden. The Adige struck a heavy track on debut last campaign and can be forgiven. Have liked his jump-outs at Cranbourne this preparation. He has a tongue tie on for this resumption suggesting they have got on top of some sort of issue and with a soft run on speed he looks over the odds at $7.
Powering Away has a great chance, especially if the middle of the track is in play. Has been to two tight-turning tracks to date, which hasn’t seemed to suit. Still does a bit wrong and wants to get his head up, but the step to 1200m today is ideal.
Share The Stars has a good chance, jump-outs have been solid, but seems under the odds.
Suggested bet: Backing The Adige, saving Powering Away.
Race 5
Hoping it’s no disadvantage to be leading/on speed.
This isn’t an overly strong BM56, presenting a great opportunity for Privalova to register another win. The key here is she maps to lead quite comfortably with Meech on board. The last time she was in BM56 grade she was an all-the-way winner at Echuca over this trip, with Meech on board. Her last two runs have been against stronger opposition, both in reasonable form races, and down to this grade she gets a terrific winning chance.
Suggest bet: Provided on speed is no disadvantage then keen on Privalova
Race 6
Golden Age has been in terrific form since joining Michael Templeton’s stable and this is a most winnable race. He was pratted deep throughout at Colac last time out but to his credit kept coming late. He’s a big horse that finally gets onto a spacious track, which should suit. He’s also drawn for a lovely run.
Bellalique is a mare that hasn’t raced with the best luck of late, but think she’s going better than the form guide suggests. Drops in grade here.
Sotomayor was strong late in the same race Golden Age comes through. Was only first-up there so should derive fitness benefit, but will again concede a tactical edge.
Suze Spritz appreciated getting to the 1400m when controlling the speed at Werribee last time out. She’s well enough found, but if on speed is advantaged then she will prove hard to catch.
Suggested bet: Taking the ~$5 Golden Age and $12 Bellalique.
Race 7
Masked Marauder and Hughie lead, Ultra Blue can slide across and sit just in behind.
Give Ultra Blue a terrific chance first-up at $6 and think that quote is overs. 1125m is the bottom of his distance range but he has looked nice and fresh in jump-outs, seemingly ready to run a big race fresh. Provided Christopher Pang can make the most of the 2kg claim bringing him down the 52kg then expect this bloke to be in the finish.
Perilous Fighter is the horse to beat dropping in grade. Masked Marauder promoted in thoughts if on speed advantaged.
Suggested bet: Backing Ultra Blue at the $6.
