Race 2: (R78 1550m)
Tempo: Above Average
Early speed comes from (9) VIVACE crossing from a wide gate, (4) WHAT A YARN and (2) SPANISH LAD add pressure, expect a good tempo. Loved the run of course specialist (3) DELZ ABEEL drawing wide and stepping slow, he was allowed to balance up at the rear off a modest tempo and hit the line hard in 2nd. More intent from the jump can see him land midfield or better and turn the tables on SPANISH LAD who was well-backed first-up ($9 – $5) and received all favours with pattern and pace here last time, more pressure expected in this event.
Suggested Bet: DELZ ABEEL
Race 5: (MDN 2YO&UP 970m)
Tempo: Average
Easy bet to have is (7) ESTILO resumed with a big performance trapped wide throughout on a brutal speed and stuck on bravely in 2nd behind ANGEL’S BREW, expecting that prove a strong form reference and appears to have found the perfect maiden against modest opposition. Showed ability at the trials as a younger horse and can capitalise over winter months on this surface.
Suggested Bet: ESTILO
Race 6: (R72 970m)
Tempo: Above Average
The class factor is (1) BRAZEN AFFAIR started a short price in similar race last time and put in a horrible performance with no vet issue, slow out and back on a fast tempo, entitled to make ground in the straight and did not. Opie Bosson replaces the apprentice, would require a significant turnaround in form despite the change in pilot. Out of the same race was (6) KARYON brave on-speed and kept giving to the line. Scratched from an easier assignment at Awapuni last week for this, rates a strong each-way chance.
Suggested Bet: KARYON
Race 7: (R78 2000m)
Tempo: Average
Enormous win by (4) SKYMAX last start riding a good tempo in a fast race, this course and distance. Able to sustain a strong L600 and taking over at the turn to win by 8L. Always shown that ability and has found a home on the polytrack, a repeat performance with a tactical and weight advantage has her clear top pick and hardest to beat.
Suggested Bet: SKYMAX
