Summary of Best Bets
- Best Bet: Race 6 (6) Regal Award
- Next Best: Race 5 (2) Golden Straand
- Best Value: Race 9 (9) Monte Supreme
- Best Roughie: Race 9 (16) World Alliance
Race 1
2YO feature to kick off proceedings, no speed to report up front which gives (1) Tenenbaum a soft lead. Dominant last start winner when putting 3.5L on Pearl Of Dubai, that form ties into Music Time who ran fourth in a Slipper. Bred to eat 1400m and further. Keen.
(2) The Roaring Sun charged to the line fresh, strips fitter second up and will appreciate the tick-over trial between runs and the rise to 1400m.
(3) Nations League and (8) Fodness are place chances, both will enjoy the rise in trip also.
Selections:
(1) Tenenbaum
(2) The Roaring Sun
(3) Nations League
(8) Fodness
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 2
(6) Oakfield Alaska was a dominant last start winner. He showed a powerful turn of foot, strips fitter and looks a very progressive type. Looks the one to beat.
(1) Olympian goes on top for mine here. Not sure he appreciated the step up to 2000m last start, looks much better suited back in trip.
(3) Laizabout has been thereabouts of late, strips fitter third up and looks suited by the rise in trip after hitting the line strongly.
(4) Aristocrat looks next best in a competitive field.
Selections:
(6) Oakfield Alaska
(1) Olympian
(3) Laizabout
(4) Aristocrat
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 3
Liked the way (5) Swift Legend performed first up, showed plenty of maturity and looks to have resumed in good order. Fitter and sharp rise to 1500m looks an ideal setup.
The lightly raced (13) Viewpoint was dominant when winning here last start, steps up in grade but looks progressive enough to handle it.
(8) Strawberry Impact looks ready to peak now third up, got too far back last start to mount a serious challenge, more positive ride expected.
(4) Audrey’s Lane looks a talented mare from what we’ve seen, if she runs out the 1500m she can challenge.
Selections:
(5) Swift Legend
(13) Viewpoint
(8) Strawberry Impact
(4) Audrey’s Lane
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 4
(3) Tazmina goes on top after an impressive last start win at Rosehill, did it with ease over 1900m. Tick-over trial between runs has her ready to go.
(13) Your Chilli has a tricky barrier to overcome, rose sharply in trip last start and lacked fitness when caught wide. Fitter now and can improve.
(4) Aix En Provence looks ready for this trip now, two competitive runs leading in.
(1) Starzintheireyes has his first Australian start and showed promise in the UK.
Selections:
(3) Tazmina
(13) Your Chilli
(4) Aix En Provence
(1) Starzintheireyes
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 5
(2) Golden Straand was dominant first up at Warwick Farm when very well backed, the run had merit as well. Strips fitter second up and looks exceptionally well placed here, future Group horse?
The only danger is Wanaruah, the best version of this galloper would win this race. Now with the Cavanough camp and trialled impressively, big watch.
Sweethearted got within 1.44L of Golden Straand last time out, in form but lacks upside deep into the prep.
Mogo Magic is next best.
Selections:
(2) Golden Straand
Wanaruah
Sweethearted
Mogo Magic
Suggested Bet: Win (2) Golden Straand
Race 6
Very keen to back (6) Regal Award this week, caught wide fresh before missing the start second up, then rocketed home in outstanding sectionals.
Back to the trials since and impressed, now third up with a lovely map to land on speed in an easier race.
(9) Karinska goes close with any luck last start, peaks fourth up and maps perfectly.
(1) Skyhook drops back sharply in grade but has had every chance this prep, D-day.
(4) Estremo and Buffalo are next best.
Selections:
(6) Regal Award
(9) Karinska
(1) Skyhook
(4) Estremo
Suggested Bet: Win (6) Regal Award
Race 7
Wide open edition of the G3 Hawkesbury Crown. The race looks void on paper which points towards two key chances.
(4) Oh Diamond Lil has trialled superbly leading in, the booking of Nash adds confidence.
(17) Surfin’ Bird should slide across from the 1300m start, 56kg has her well in at the weights.
(11) Chidiac is in career best form with back-to-back smart wins and is well placed again.
(7) Zaszou is the big improver, no luck fresh and trialled well since.
Selections:
(4) Oh Diamond Lil
(17) Surfin’ Bird
(11) Chidiac
(7) Zaszou
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 8
The key to the Hawkesbury Gold Cup is the speed map, again looks void of speed.
(9) Tosen will get the gun run in the 1-1 from a smart barrier, rock hard fit and brings the right form, map horse.
(14) Captain Furai is in career best order, sticky gate but the kind start helps.
(5) Vivy Air has been well backed early, going well this prep but likely lands midfield on the fence which is a concern.
(8) Waterford is next best, back to the trials and can improve sharply second up.
Selections:
(9) Tosen
(14) Captain Furai
(5) Vivy Air
(8) Waterford
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 9
Definition of a hot tempo, impossible race on paper.
I’ll have a throw at the stumps with (16) World Alliance, trialling sharply and will eat up the tempo, the query is how far off them he’ll be.
(9) Monte Supreme is the other off-speed runner who could charge home, stable flying.
(3) Way To The Stars will take a sit behind the speed and be ready to pounce if they overdo it.
(7) Zealously is next best but needs a big fresh performance.
Selections:
(16) World Alliance
(9) Monte Supreme
(3) Way To The Stars
(7) Zealously
Suggested Bet: Each-way (16) World Alliance & (9) Monte Supreme
Race 10
Tricky race to sort out with plenty of dual accepted runners. Will revisit after scratchings.
Suggested Bet: No bet
