Three runners in the expected final field for the Melbourne Cup have yet to pass their final vet inspections.

Absurde, Flatten the Curve and Goodie Two Shoes are still to receive clearances from Racing Victoria vets.     

According to an RV statement, all three “presented with a change in its gait to previous veterinary examinations and will be re-examined on Saturday morning”.

Interpretation, currently 32nd in the order of entry “presented with soreness in its right front foot following its fifth placing in yesterday’s Ladbrokes Bendigo Cup and will be re-examined on Friday morning”.

According to RV, “Mark Twain, Quietness and Don Diego De Vega have been withdrawn from the race and Fernao, So You Are and Star Of India will not accept.”
