Race 1: (MDN 2YO&UP 1400m)
Tempo: Average
A thin maiden to kick off the day. An opportunity for (2) PRINCE OF DIAMONDS to improve on his good debut 2nd at Hawera. Raced very green and had no idea about what he was there to do, off the bridle at the rear for the majority of the race and picked up the steel in the run to the line. Wide draw no negative and if he’s learnt anything from the debut he’s found a winnable maiden at start two.
Suggested Bet: PRINCE OF DIAMONDS
Race 8: (OPEN HCP 1400m)
Tempo: Average
Worth forgiving (2) MR MOJO RISIN’ who was barbecued three & four wide on-speed at Ellerslie first-up, dropping out in the straight. On that day he had blinkers applied, they were not present when he put down an outstanding trial performance at Avondale leading into the campaign and have been removed. Mapping for joint lead on a good surface he can bounce back into the winners stall.
Suggested Bet: MR MOJO RISIN’
Race 9: (R75 1650m)
Tempo: Above Average
Expecting sharp improvement from the Myers-trained (3) TEXAS who was snagged to the rear first-up in a sit/sprint at Waipukurau and never a winning chance. Has a winning profile second-up, firmwer track suits and the map is excellent sitting in behind a strong tempo. Winkers added to his gear and he represents value in the market as a Top 3 chance if ridden with more intent.
Suggested Bet: TEXAS
Race 10: (R75 1200m)
Tempo: Above Average
A good speed expected brings the best horse in the race into contention with (4) TESTWIN resuming. One quiet trial at Hastings, he produced a monster performance winning first-up last campaign at Taupo and held his form through the short preparation. Lightly-raced and full of talent, he is relying on speedster (13) PLEASING to set the race up for his get back/run on racing style. Respecting the in-form mare (10) SHACKTIME for an astute barn, she has her work cut out from the wide draw.
Suggested Bet: TESTWIN
