The hype horses of spring don’t always live up to the noise.
And Rosberg still might break punters’ hearts – especially those who have taken him in early Coolmore markets.
However, trainer Clint McDonald reckons usual jockey Ben Melham is of the belief the colt is among the best horses he has sat on.
[We don’t want to be accused of overhype either but Melham did sit on Black Caviar once too, winning the Group 1 VRC Sprint Classic in 2010.]
‘’He’s got him up there in the top bracket of horses he’s sat on, so for him to say that, it’s a good report isn’t it, and potentially, as I’ve said all the way along, he does things that only the real elite horses do,’’ he told SEN Track’s Gareth Hall. ”He does it with ease, so hopefully he just keeps moving forward and keeps improving and we can get to the Coolmore.’’
Rosberg will race once more before his crack at the Coolmore where is he currently $7 with Bet365.
‘’Yeah, [those odds are] probably an overreaction, but at the end of the day, that’s what odds they put up, so I think if he wins the next start, the Danehill [Stakes at Flemington], well then he’s probably a deserved favourite,’’ he said.
”It’s hard to get a line through all the three-year-olds at the moment, but I know our horse is going to be fit and well, and we believe in the horse, and if he does everything right, he’ll be very hard to beat.’’
