Wagering giant Sportsbet is set for a leadership change, with long-standing CEO Barni Evans set for a new expanded role across the companies parent company.
Doug Brown – who has held senior roles across Sportsbet including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Product Officer and Chief Growth Officer – will be the company’s new CEO.
Evans, according to Sportsbet, will take ”an expanded role as CEO, Flutter APAC & Emerging Markets”.
In a release on Tuesday, Sportsbet said that under Evan’s leadership the company ”has continued to strengthen its position as Australia’s leading wagering business, backed by a high-performing team, strong customer momentum, and ongoing investment in product innovation.
Evans backed Brown as the ride candidate to take the reins.
“It’s been a huge privilege to be part of Sportsbet’s story. I’m incredibly proud of the business we’ve built and the team behind it,” Evans said.
“Doug is the right person to lead the next phase as CEO. He knows the business inside out and has played a major role in getting us to where we are today.
“I look forward to remaining closely connected to the business while taking on this broader role across APAC and Emerging Markets.”
Brown will begin as Sportsbet CEO on June 1, has risen through the ranks of the company, beginning with the company back in 2015 in an online customer marketing role. He was credited on Tuesday as being a key architect of the company’s success.
