Bet Legends’ Shaun Beirne is back with his weekly Take Us On, putting two short-priced runners under the microscope at Randwick and Flemington.
This week, Shaun is happy to risk Skyhook first-up at Randwick, while a huge fresh rating from Oliveanotherday hasn’t convinced him to follow the market at Flemington.
Flemington: Oliveanotherday
Oliveanotherday produced a massive rating first-up, but Shaun believes the market may have gone too far in expecting another significant leap forward.
“He produced a massive rating first-up, but that was still a spike and the market is now assuming she can improve another two to three lengths,” Beirne said.
“That’s certainly possible, but I’m nowhere near as aggressive as the market.
“I think we should see black odds about him on Saturday.”

Randwick: Skyhook
Skyhook resumes over 1300m and, despite trialling well ahead of his return, Shaun believes the favourite could be vulnerable first-up in a very even race.
“Skyhook has trialled up well, but 1300 metres first-up could leave him vulnerable,” Beirne said.
“This is a very even field and the market is effectively suggesting he wins by more than a length. I can’t agree with that assessment.
“At this stage of his preparation, he’s a risk I’m happy to take.”
