Track Talk
- The track was rated a Heavy 9 on Thursday and, despite clear weather forecast for race day, it is expected to remain in the heavy range. The rail stays in the +5m position around the entire circuit after the previous meeting, with Mt Gambier generally racing fairly even in wet conditions. While all racing patterns should get their chance early, runners may begin shifting away from the inside in the straight as the meeting progresses.

Race 1
Hellfire Jess resumes after competing in much stronger juvenile company and looks very well placed dropping back to country maiden grade. She maps to enjoy a soft run near the speed and should prove very hard to beat. Calm The Press improved nicely into the placings last start and should again race prominently. Immortally Lucky also took a step forward at her second start and draws to settle close to the speed, while The Muscle showed promise on debut and should improve with race experience.

Race 6
Hidden Bounty returned to winning form at Naracoorte after dropping in grade and looks to receive very similar conditions again. The rise in trip appears ideal and she looks capable of going back-to-back. Bit Of A Rebel has been below her best this campaign but finds an easier assignment and has the early speed to overcome a wide draw. Robert The Puss was a dominant winner at this track two starts ago before finding stronger company beyond him last start, while Loose Lip Lloyd has an excellent Mt Gambier record and could control the race if able to cross comfortably.

Race 7
Halliwell drops sharply in grade after contesting stronger races throughout the campaign and now finds her easiest assignment for some time. The rise to 1200m suits, she handles heavy going and looks capable of returning to form at attractive odds. Gusty Way has won his past two starts and arrives in excellent touch, while Naralinga drops back in grade after a quick turnaround and returns to a track where he has produced some of his best performances. Terralight is chasing a hat-trick after successive wins and clearly relishes rain-affected ground.
