Turf Talk:
- Rail +3m – Expecting an on-speed and rails in-run advantage here with the G4 surface.
The Stats That Matter:
- Over the past 90 days Tom Sherry is striking at a impressive 26.9% with a positive POT of +59.1%.
- Joe Pride is the stable to follow over the past 90 days up to $10SP, the team is striking at 26.8% with a impressive POT of +32.5%. They are effective with runners first, second and third up.
Happy to open the card with (6) Sweltering. You don’t often see a horse go around at win odds at the midweeks – dominant form lines and ratings, and simply finds the right race.
(8) Tormanzor is the danger; back-to-back solid efforts and looks ready for 1900m now.
(2) Copartner Pegasus should land on speed around the right turning track which is key.
(1) Babyfaced Assassin rounds out the numbers but needs to improve sharply.
Selections:
(6) Sweltering
(8) Tormanzor
(2) Copartner Pegasus
(1) Babyfaced Assassin
Strong Maiden.
Leaning the way of (13) Sylph, a talented filly who hasn’t quite put it all together yet but maps to land on speed and gets her chance.
(7) Supermassive was good on debut in easier grade – typically Waterhouse/Bott improve sharply second up, though staying at 1200m is a slight knock.
(4) Ichiban Koji has returned a better horse off two sharp trials and demands respect despite the wide draw.
(2) Adenauer rounds out the numbers and may improve deeper into the prep.
Selections:
(13) Sylph
(7) Supermassive
(4) Ichiban Koji
(2) Adenauer
A tricky race to assess.
(4) Big Tiger enjoyed all favours last start but was dominant and stays on the quick back-up rising to 1550m – the one to beat again.
(3) Automne Tree had no luck once more last start and looks well placed with only a small rise in trip.
(2) Sarrismo has been well supported early; no match for Green Spaces last start but that form has since stood up to Group level.
(8) Willie Oppa resumes and is a good roughie off a tidy recent trial.
Selections:
(4) Big Tiger
(3) Automne Tree
(2) Sarrismo
(8) Willie Oppa
Speed looks genuine.
(3) Tequila Baby goes on top from a tricky gate – the 2kg claim helps but she’ll still need breaks at the right time.
(7) Twinkling Star is flying and comes off a dominant win, well set up again.
(8) Mother Goose did a solid job first up sustaining a long run on speed, strips fitter and can improve.
(9) Indefensible has been supported early and looks well placed fresh off strong trials.
Selections:
(3) Tequila Baby
(7) Twinkling Star
(8) Mother Goose
(9) Indefensible
Competitive race with a solid tempo expected.
(4) Horizons looked a strong chance at Wyong before being saved for this – solid in a Midway last start and should be fitter now.
(6) Placid Pearl draws perfectly and gets Lloyd back on; third up and out in trip, she gets her chance.
(5) King Jerry demolished easier company last start and steps up here but has been well found in the market before.
(2) Hammett gets a soft draw and may sneak a run late.
Selections:
(4) Horizons
(6) Placid Pearl
(5) King Jerry
(2) Hammett
Another tricky contest.
(10) Ninette appeals second-up after trialling strongly – stable tends to improve sharply with a run under the belt, though she will need luck from the draw.
(11) Swordplay maps ideally but leaps sharply in grade from a 900m maiden; ability is there.
(3) Crepe Myrtle is building well third-up and gets conditions to suit.
(1) Peace Centre is flying with two straight wins, but wanted to see a touch more in the most recent trial.
Selections:
(10) Ninette
(11) Swordplay
(3) Crepe Myrtle
Finish the day with an 1100m BM72 and it doesn’t get any easier if the market is anything to go by. $5.50 the field at the time of preview, but there’s a winner in every race and we might be backing two horses.
Speed from 11 and 9 working across from barriers 9 and 8. (13) Be Quiet looks to cart up in behind the speed from an inside draw. She comes into this on the back of two winning trials and if she gets breaks at the right time she looks the one to beat.
(1) Power Of The Brave is a class horse and brings the highest last start rating into this, a second at Randwick. This is easier and he commands respect.
(15) Remember Jack draws well but may get back, dropping back in trip. He will be finding the line but will be relying on luck.
Selections:
(13) Be Quiet
(1) Power Of The Brave
(15) Remember Jack
(4) Wallenda
