Race 1
Tricky little race to kick off proceedings here. Sphere has come up big odds and goes on top. Back-to-back quiet trials and looks massive odds. I’m wary of Flying Wahine, smart inside draw and solid trial form around the debut winner Nandina. Little Iris showed solid improvement between trials, typically on-speed Waterhouse & Bott-trained galloper who will be tough to get past. Ready For Cocktails rounds out the numbers off a solid debut run, the price is the knock.

Race 2
Keen to put Extra Heights on top here second up. He copped a poor ride first up over the 1200m when snagged to the rear from gate five. Positive jockey change and should find this a lot easier class-wise. I respect the Lloyd x M. Freedman combo in Rhetoric, who is also second up, the query is the price at $2.60. Extremely Perfect has done enough at the trials to go in the mix, he’ll land on speed and give a sight. Master Zous is next best.

Race 3
Wide open event, which is reflected in the market. Throttle Response goes on top, back-to-back impressive figures and draws a solid gate here, which may be the difference. Vasala peaks third up now and looks ready for the 1900m. Strong last start win and is another who draws well. Outside of that, Barcelo comes off a last start win, will need luck but may be aided by scratchings, while Tishnab peaks third up.

Race 4
Lacklustre event. Happy to put the short-priced favourite Monopolistic on top. Smart fresh win before a credible second-up run when having to cart himself into the event. Maps a treat and deserves to be short. Namaste is the horse at odds, solid enough last start effort and should appreciate the drop back in class. The consistent Emballee gets Nash aboard and draws well, I expect Nash to be a touch more positive here deep into the prep. Philatelic rounds out the numbers as a place chance only.

Race 5
Another even contest with four horses between $4.40 and $5.50. Even tempo expected up front, and with the rain around the chances of Slinky increase significantly. Light weight and goes on top. The market and parade watch is on Ringarosa, modest trials but has a strong fresh record. The wet track shouldn’t pose any issues either. La Signora Dane goes in the mix but looks extremely short as a $3.80 chance, I respect the early money but can’t get anywhere near that price off some average recent form. Pretty Tavi is next best.

Race 6
Fast tempo expected up on speed here. Happy to attack the race with a two-pronged approach, both Zulfiqar and Remember Jack have come up good odds. Both map to land in behind the speed and get every chance. I respect the market push for Sovereign Hill but, going off his trials, he looks to need this run. Wallenda is dual accepted, if she runs here she is a ripping chance off a forgive run last time out.

Race 7
I’ve been ultra impressed by the recent trials of Bev’s Nine. The unbeaten gelding is dual accepted at Rosehill but looks very well placed here with the 2kg claim. Maps a treat and handles all going. Stormland went to a new level first up over the 1000m. He had the perfect run there though, and the map looks trickier here despite sticking to the trip. Lull will sit back from the draw and hope the front runners overdo it up front, in the mix. The consistent Cassiel rounds out the numbers, needing luck.
