Track Pattern Outlook
- Big watch on the forecast with rain expected in the days leading up to and during the meeting. Track likely around a Soft 6 or 7.
- The rail goes out to +7m 1200m–W/Post & +6m remainder. On wet ground, expect the track to play off-rails.
- At the previous meeting here (rail +4m, Soft 6), five winners came from lanes 7 or 8 in the straight.
- Jake Toeroek (2023/24 jockey premiership winner) is back in form, striking at 22% from his last 100 rides with a POT of +17.1%.
Race by Race Overview
Looking to race experience in this maiden, (12) Oui Oui Ma Cherie was well supported when resuming, running in behind a handy pair. She maps to be prominent in the run with a light weight. I’ve been taken by the trials of (3) Intellectual and suggest he can run well, but a wide barrier on debut could make it tricky. Stablemate (13) Skadoosh was well supported on debut but draws wide again. Victorian (7) Hello Mistress ran well enough on debut to finish in the placings and could be an improver off that.

A lot of these staying types cross over from recent races. (6) Lavish Thinker looks every chance to go one better after running second at his last two starts and gets a much better barrier for a softer run here. (8) Infinity Imperial comes in with a light weight and may find this easier than recent races. (4) Lake’s Folly is consistently around the mark and better suited rising in trip. (3) Paradise Storm hit the line strongly last start and should appreciate the extra distance.

(5) Burning Bright and (1) Rabtat come out of the same race last weekend and are on the quick back-up after running 1–2. While Rabtat was the winner, the weight swing looks to favour Burning Bright. (8) Whatsanamegeorge may still be better suited deeper into the prep and up in trip but did show good signs first-up. (2) Divine Fire is third-up now and rising in trip, which suits as she usually takes a few runs to find form.

(6) Brave Star drops in grade and has placed in three of his last four runs. He gets in well at the weights and maps well. (4) Merchant Boss defeated Brave Star last start but can mix form and needs luck from barrier two. (1) Watadeel was super impressive last start winning a similar race with a big weight, but the wide barrier is a query. (3) Fast Bubbles has won four in a row and is flying, but needs a career best to get the 1600m trip.

(1) Darknconfidential comes into this race third-up and fit. He hasn’t shown much early in previous preps, so he should now be at the right level of fitness and comes into this with some good form lines around Hot Strut and Riche D’Amour. (4) Anthracite found a new level last start when winning a maiden in impressive fashion. This is harder, and he’ll need sharp improvement — happy to risk him at short odds. (3) Gin Rummy has placed at his last two starts and looks close to a win. (8) Amber Nook wouldn’t shock at odds third-up and fitter with a light weight.
Suggested Bet – (1) Darknconfidential (Each-way)
If (7) Cicala can hold her form from recent runs, including her Listed Lightning Stakes win and bold Behemoth Stakes effort, she should prove hard to beat back in benchmark grade with a light weight. (4) Karavas resumed in career-best form and is worth a saver in case she improves again. (6) Metrical is in strong form this prep (2 wins, 3 seconds from 5 starts). (1) Cotehele resumes for a new stable and was competitive in good NSW races, though he may want more ground.
Suggested Bet – (7) Cicala (Win), save (4) Karavas (Win)
Selections: (5) Wine Barron · (10) Tropical House · (7) The Mansman · (8) Talisay
(5) Wine Barron backs up quickly from last week. He was travelling well in the straight but didn’t get much room — up in distance may help. (10) Tropical House was a 4L winner last start when well backed but must overcome a wide barrier. (7) The Mansman comes out of the same race as Wine Barron and hit the line just as well. (8) Talisay resumed with a win in near career-peak form. His second-up record isn’t strong, but improvement would take him a long way.

Lots of interest again around (4) Cash, an expensive yearling purchase. He impressed on debut at Moonee Valley before resuming four weeks ago. He looked to have the race won but was collared late — fitness may have told. Expecting improvement fitter second-up. (14) Zunna showed promise in his debut campaign. (9) Nurys is consistent and well drawn. (7) Hypernova was a super midweek winner and now needs to step up.
Suggested Bet – (4) Cash (Win)
(4) Interest Point debuts for a new stable, has won first-up before, and comes out of stronger races last prep. (17) Thunder Shoc was impressive winning her maiden midweek but must step up. (3) Zoupurring resumes and rates well but needs luck from a wide draw. Similar story for (14) Sharendipity, who drops in grade but also draws out.
