Turf Talk
- The track is expected to be presented in a similar condition to last week, so working on a Soft 6/7 again.
- The rail pushes out from last week and will be +6m the entire circuit.
- Given the wet conditions, it is likely runners will look to come away from the inside lanes in the straight and it may be a slight advantage to settle in the front half of the field in the run.
Stats that matter
- Julius Sandhu’s stable continues its strong recent form, producing 21 winners from its last 100 starters with a POT return of +45.1%.
- Billy Egan comes to this meeting in strong form and with a near full book of rides. He has ridden 19 winners from his last 100 rides and returned a POT of +15.6%.
Race by race overview
Race 5
(8) Belcony had been consistent in her last few runs when finishing second in her last three starts, all at this track. She maps well for this so should get a soft run and conditions should prove no issues, so she gets her chance to go one better today in a set up that appears ideal. (7) White Hot Mama kicked off this prep with two wins and then took on a stronger race at Caulfield where she finished midfield. She looks better suited back in grade today. (4) Victory Tune was hitting the line strongly last start in similar conditions so looks ready to take a step up in level for this. (1) Sweet Jasmine kicked off her prep with a win at Sale. She rates highly in this field and will carry a big weight due to that, but she is fitter now and wet conditions should suit so she wouldn’t surprise.
Selections:
(8) Belcony
(7) White Hot Mama
(4) Victory Tune
(1) Sweet Jasmine
Suggested Bet: (8) Belcony Win
Race 6
(8) My Roca Fella has been consistent and is at peak fitness now deep into his prep. He is a last-start winner at this track and trip set up and will rise in grade for this. He maps well again and looks likely to push forwards and potentially lead. If he takes control of the tempo and gets some cheap sectionals he could prove tough to catch late. (5) Amleto was solid when resuming. He had to carry a big weight in heavy conditions so did well to stick on for second. He is fitter now and looks suited rising to the 2000m trip. (9) Oak Beach is another who looks ideally suited rising in distance. He is third-up into his prep now so at peak fitness and has won his only other run at the 2000m. (1) Jaykayann was super when winning first-up. It was a big effort with a heavy weight, generally improves with more fitness and won’t surprise here now she is second-up and in these conditions if she gets a gun run like last start.
Selections:
(8) My Roca Fella
(5) Amleto
(9) Oak Beach
(1) Jaykayann
Suggested Bet: (8) My Roca Fella Win
